Football South Development League - Football for 2021 (U14 and U16 grades)

17 Mar

Hi everyone - info below on U14 and U16 grade for the upcoming season. Well done to everyone who put themselves forward.

The trials for the North End United FSDL teams were held over Sunday 7th and 14th March. With over 30 registrants at the U14 level, there was a very high standard of football on display and our selectors had to make some difficult decisions. Congratulations to the following players who have made the final U14 squad:

  1. Jack Merrison (Maori Hill)
  2. James Cameron (Maori Hill)
  3. Niila Robertson (Maori Hill)
  4. Brayden Thorburn (Maori Hill)
  5. Marco Feralla (Northern)
  6. Fraser Anderson (Northern)
  7. Isaac Simons (Northern)
  8. Cormac De La Harpe (Maori Hill)
  9. Jack Ussher (Maori Hill)
  10. Fergus Millar (Maori Hill)
  11. George Holland (Maori Hill)
  12. Sam Lawson (Maori Hill)
  13. Luis Deaker (Maori Hill)
  14. Harrison Wilkinson (Northern)
  15. Torsten Wilkinson (Northern)
  16. Toby Orchiston (Maori Hill)

Unfortunately, there were insufficient player numbers at U16 level and we have made the decision to withdraw the U16 team

Thank you to all players who participated in the trials and thank you to our selectors (Steve Brook: head coach U14, Murray Devereux and Phil Kelly) for a well organised trial.

Finally:

  • We know that those who trialed and have not made selection for the FSDL squad will be disappointed. Please bear in mind that as well as looking for individual skill and flair, we needed to select a squad with balance across a range of positions.
  • Players who are unsuccessful in the trials will have a place in our respective Community League grades.
  • Remember too that these are young footballers, with plenty of time to develop their skills in the game and – if they wish – push for FSDL selection in future years. We have seen this previously, with several boys who played in Development Teams moving into the A-Team the following season.
