About Us

Welcome to Maori Hill Junior Football Club.

Maori Hill Junior Football Club is one of Otago’s largest junior football clubs. 2020 we had 330 registered players aged from 3 to 18 years spread across 29 teams including our little kicks program.

We can trace our history back over 115 years to 1904, and the formation of the Maori Hill Association Football Club. While this club eventually amalgamated with the Northern club in 1975, the Maori Hill juniors have continued separately as a stand-alone club to this day.

Our home ground is Prospect Park and our playing strip is maroon and gold. While our base is in the suburb of Maori Hill, we welcome players and families from across Dunedin.

The Club’s overarching aim is to promote the playing and enjoyment of football for boys and girls through participation in organised competitions in the Dunedin area.

In accordance with its objectives around player participation, development and competition, our approach has three stages as follows:

  • a Little Kicks programme for 3 to 5 year old, where the youngest members of our club gain fundamental football skills in a fun and family-focused programme;
  • from sixth through tenth grade, the core approach of ‘mates-playing-with mates’ in mixed-ability teams;
  • from eleventh grade onwards, where player numbers are sufficient to merit it, trialling to form an A Team and one or more Development teams at each grade

While most of our teams, particularly at the lower grades, are mixed-gender teams, we also run a number of all-girls teams where player numbers and demand merits this.

Maori Hill JFC is run by a hard-working club committee, and the other key ingredient in making this a great club for our players is the many parents and others who volunteer their time and expertise as coaches and managers of teams.

If you are looking to become part of a family-focused football club, then we reckon Maori Hill JFC is the club for you.

Our annual player subscriptions are in line with those charged by other clubs.
